Brad Mehldau est un pianiste de jazz américain, né en 1970 à Jacksonville, en Floride . Dès son jeune âge, il commence à jouer du piano et développe un style unique qui mêle jazz traditionnel, rock, et même des influences contemporaines. Il est notamment reconnu pour son trio acoustique formé dans les années 1990, qui a marqué l’histoire du jazz moderne.
Mehldau est décrit par le New York Times comme « le pianiste de jazz le plus influent des 20 dernières années » grâce à sa capacité à allier émotion intime et complexité musicale
. En plus de ses compositions personnelles, il a collaboré avec des musiciens de renom dans des genres variés, allant du jazz au rock, et a même composé des bandes originales pour des films . Son premier album solo, Elegiac Cycle , sorti en 1999, montre déjà son approche profondément introspective de la musique.
Aujourd’hui, Brad Mehldau continue d’explorer de nouvelles frontières musicales, tout en restant fidèle à ses racines jazz.
